Azumio Acquires SkyHealth to Build Out Portfolio of Health Apps

This week mobile health startup Azumio announced that it has acquired SkyHealth, creators of personal training application Fitness Buddy and diabetes app Glucose Buddy, for an undisclosed amount of cash and equity. Berkeley, CA-based SkyHealth’s portfolio of 15 health and fitness applications will join Azumio’s own suite of applications, including the Sleep Time sleep analysis app, and Stress Check app. Azumio and SkyHealth’s apps now have a total of 25 million users on iOS and Android.

Azumio CEO Bojan Bostjancic said Azumio’s mission is to provide mobile health solutions to all smartphone users, and this acquisition allows them to offer a more comprehensive view of a user’s health. “There are a lot of separate applications out there that track different pieces of data leaving the user a fragmented picture of their overall health,” Bostjancic said in an interview. “By acquiring SkyHealth and adding fitness and glucose tracking to our suite of mobile apps, Azumio will soon offer a complete health dashboard, enabling mobile users to view all of their fitness information at a glance. This will enable Azumio users to track trends and get a more holistic picture of their health progress.”
