Physical activity yields substantial health benefits for adults. Because activities of varying intensities lead to health benefits at different speeds, the World Health Organization suggests three activity plans to stay physically fit:

  1. Light: 60 min/day (i.e. casual walking)
  2. Moderate: 30 min/day (i.e. brisk walking, house work)
  3. Vigorous: 15 min/day (i.e. running, fast cycling)

To provide users with a detailed view of how various activities individually contribute to their overall health, Azumio has developed a tool to standardize the physical intensities of all of Argus’ activities called Insights.

To analyze the intensity level of each exercise, Insights take into account your speed, acceleration, and heart rate. Using scientific guidelines, Insights calculates the energy expenditure of an activity and converts it into a unit of time: an equivalent active minute (EAM). Argus encourages users to achieve 30 EAM per day. Activities of different energy intensities will contribute differently to a user’s EAM. For example, running for 15 minutes and casually walking for 60 minutes are both worth 30 EAM.

By providing users with a personal health hub, Argus gives users personalized insights for developing a healthier lifestyle. If you have any questions about EAM, please email support@azumio.com.
